Thanks for the response. It has clearly made an impact on your life. I play guitar and have recently started learning to play a keyboard. I do find it very useful in that scenario.

The battery life is very good. It is just the lack of use and I forget about it. There is nothing technically wrong with it but I seem to struggle in finding a use for it to be honest. I just prefer being at a desk on my PC with a big scree

I'm more interested in knowing how the iPad revolutionized the way you use computers. I find it more hassle to keep mine charged then find a use for it besides reading news sites on the toiler.

Is anybody else tired of reading x traits/qualities required to perform y and z? Seems like every other post is highlighting what you need to have to achieve everything you can ever want. It's like a bad collection of extracts from self-hel

I agree with you on the relative tolerance/perceptions of dodgy areas. I stayed at a hostel in the Tenderloin area in SF and found it to be pretty reasonable. Was a bit shady but compared to some of the areas where I grew up it was not too

It is funny how often this comment comes up. If anybody has seen Steve Blank's lectures on Udacity he has a small clip that has a response to 'but Steve Jobs didn't do it'.

Not sure about the bay area but $100k salaries are common in Australia. It isn't much money when you consider how expensive everything is.

They could have scaled it in one direction and keep the black bars only on one side. It is really silly not to use 1280x720.

Canada is great and not too cold at all :). I moved to Canada with the intention of working here. Instead I worked on my startup full time for a year. It was silly of me to assume that work visa is available for everybody. I think the visa

This is pretty spot on. It seems comparable to cross promotion for mobile apps. I found those to have the same issues you described. Lots of apps with very little users/value promoting each other.

What we did was ensure we could have a story behind the product we were building. From the start we knew exactly what angles we can approach the press with for our app. In fact the timing was perfect for us and we managed to get a lot of go

Isn't Twitters success mostly attributed to its mainstream user adoption? I'm not sure how app.net can survive on a niche developer community if that community is building on top of a platform that caters to itself.

This seems to have just gotten out of hand. How did this memo get "leaked" anyway? I don't think article is as negative as others are stating but it seems unnecessary.

I always find when startups say they are profitable they may as well say nothing. It is like showing vanity metrics up-to-the-right graphs. Having said that it is pretty tough to answer either way since "no comment" comes across as douche-y

Really good read. I'm thinking of moving away from the Apple app store/Google Play since it is a pretty brutal/compettive market. I'm taking a similar approach to you before I dig in. Even reading the same books. Thanks for posting this sin

I didn't mean to make it sound easy. But running a business is difficult and that is only one problem to overcome. If you can't solve that problem for a pretty short amount of time then maybe it is not the right time to create the business.
