I just switched from iPhone 3GS to Android (Galaxy S). My first impression is that it's not as polished as the iPhone, but the overall gain in functionality is worth the switch. IMO the biggest pros (that iPhone lacks): - Micro SD card sto

You are right about Photoshop, but I would argue that Octave is an acceptable, free, and Matlab-compatible substitute for Matlab. I did my entire Masters degree in Octave -- it was good enough for me. (The one thing I know Matlab supports

There's lies, damn lies, and statistics. 0.55% sounds great, and not a big deal. In reality, 16,000 people get dropped calls - almost statistically insignificant. But if you're one of those 16K people, then it happens 100% of the time to

It would be interesting to see a comparison graph of other users. For example, I would be interested to see how many other people write like Vladimir Nabokov, and maybe even what the top 10 writers are. Congratulations on your success! P.S.

My question has nothing to do with the formula used to render the display, or the accuracy of visualization of signal strength. What I'm questioning is: if it's truly just a display (software) issue, why is it affected by gripping the phone

One thing nobody is questioning: why does the perceived signal strength (what is displayed) affected by how users hold the phone? If the displayed signal strength doesn't correlate well with actual signal strength, I don't see how grippin

Good point. It would require a different format of advertising than what America is used to, and that could be hard to sell. Interesting chicken-and-egg problem, it would really take a combination of a brave network and brave advertisers to

I think the game could engulf America, if the Television networks are willing to air two 45+ minute halves without showing a single commercial. Note that every popular American sport has enough stoppage time during each break to show at lea

I didn't say I can't tell the difference. All I meant was at the end of the day, if I watch a soccer game (for example) in "standard" definition versus HD, I still watch the same game without any loss of useful information whatsoever. Why

I am really interested in going, but it just so happens I'm out of town for the next 3 weeks :( I'd love to hear about how things went, and for this to be a monthly occurrence. I look forward to the next one! :)

I am annoyed by the error bubbles too because they truncate the actual error message - you have to open a whole new window just to see the entire message. In Eclipse, you get a red (X) in the sidebar on which you can click (and a list of p

I'll second the B12 shot -- it's a very simple treatment, and if it doesn't work, no harm-no-foul. Check out the symptoms of B12 deficiency: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_B12_deficiency
