And yes, the high level execs do have to shape the culture, but it’s far from the formal “we want things to happen like X” and it’s usually a live/evolving process that happens over years, and it’s usually tailored at org and team leve

Re: definitions are important Yes and no. Some of the biggest conflicts I’ve seen started because of misunderstanding ‘basic words’. So definitions matter in the sense that they help clarify intent. But they also can make things harder if y

For me ‘toxic culture’ means high stress, agressive unwarranted behaviour and dehumanizing the people to justify things.

At a big corporation, like Intel, we cannot really talk about just one culture. I would say that your experience can vary quite a lot based on the team you’re in and to a certain degree the org you’re in. Various people assign the ‘toxic’ l

you can actually make it behave like this if you turn off "Search & Siri Suggestions" for each app: https://www.imore.com/how-access-and-use-siri-search-suggest...

I personally turn off all notifications on my iPhone (except for a few select apps) and do not use Siri. I can tell you that the Siri suggestions in Search really annoyed me (usually use search to find... apps, not to be fed all the crap fr

Bullying is not okay obviously. But people do need to be informed. If breast milk is an option you should take that option. I have actually gone as far as seeing people buy breast milk (legit sources - some sort of breast milk bank) to ensu

let's agree to disagree on this one. I am not sure that system and application container are or should be different, but it's okay if we have a different opinion.

if you’re looking at the kernel features used (namespaces, cgroups, etc) containers are multiprocess (even with docker you can go attach into the container and look at things). This may be semantics, but the first process in the container i

This does not make sense. There’s no such thing as a system containter. You can absolutely leverage lxc instead of docker if you want to. The major difference is that docker gives you 1 process by container and has 1) nailed down a containe

A container is not a process. The fact that you say this makes me wonder if you understand what K8s and how it works. K8s is not going to solve the issues you outline above (logs, proper monitoring, etc). Even worse, you’re gonna have a bad

Best definition: there is no such thing as a container. When people say container they usually mean a bunch of kernel features (cgroups, namespaces, apparmor, etc) + an overlay filesystem. I played with stuff like this since the chroot jail

Not sure I agree. If you need a container to do the things you mention you’re already in a pretty bad shape. Not to mention that a lot of people don’t understand what a container is.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I’m not a big fan of containers and K8S. If your app needs a container to run properly, it’s already a mess. While what K8s has done for containers is freaking impressive, to me it does not make a lot o
