If they are the same everywhere, you can precompute a huge database of hashes (called a rainbow table) and simply lookup the hash in the table when breaches occur to find the password. By salting, every provider who stores credentials has d

IMO all of these these are minor conveniences (except maybe Enums). Go does not need these more than generics.

The fact that Go has gained so much adoption probably justifies that investment. They are completely different languages and much of it is personal preference.

That's not exactly true. There's very few cases where the standard library will panic, and the handful of cases where it does is for programming errors (like passing a non-nil, zero length buffer into io.CopyBuffer).

Interesting, thanks for sharing. I find there to be more cognitive load with the separate control flow. Different strokes I guess!

Personally I really dislike exceptions and try/catch in languages. I don't like having to worry about whether some function call is going to surprise me with an exception, and handling them with try/catch really breaks the fl

If we reach 80% vaccination rates (which we're on track to do in the next 1/2 months) and these measures don't disappear quickly, I would start to be very concerned. I understand I probably seem like a naive optimist, and I s

Some of these I won't defend, I think the arrest for the protest post and the Melbourne Towers lockdown were not ok. Both of those have been widely criticized, including by branches of the government. I wouldn't be surprised if th

Depends on what desktop environment (Compositor, specifically) you're using. Gnome (Mutter) has RDP support built in but the documentation is pretty scarce and it only has a CLI interface. I'm not aware of any other distros with R

As for the why, I think being able to trust your government is a great thing. It has allowed us to basically eleminate guns in our society except for recreation/farming, and as a result of our lockdowns we have only 1000 deaths. We sho

I'd say that in general Australians are more trusting of their government than our American friends. I often see poeple on Twitter like Joe Rogan and friends expressing total shock about how compliant Aussies are with what seems like d

It's my understanding that Apple simply can't operate in China without playing by those rules. So really, the onus is on the CCP. In this case, is Apple being compelled to do this by the US government? Or is it a choice Apple has

This sounds pretty similar to what Powershell does. You can list the contents of the directory which outputs a structured table, then pipe that into Out-GridView for an interactive GUI window.
