Yes, sorry. This is the one I'm using: http://www.amazon.com/SainSmart-Sensitivity-Arduino-Mega2560... Just search for analog water sensor and you'll see a few like this labeled by different companies. There are s

I'd like to test the bluetooth functionality of the ESP32 to see power consumption of that vs wifi. My requirement will be cell phones connecting to this mesh network. Data rates aren't a concern for the next project. The mesh nod

You're doing way better than I am at the writeups. I suggest the arduino starter kit because it comes with a bunch of other components that are helpful to a beginner besides the arduino.

Nice writeup. Someone gave me a great idea of running an ATTiny to send a wake command to the ESP when water is detected. I'm going to try a few different ways and compare battery usage.

I emailed espressif yesterday seeing if I could pay for a beta ESP32 since I've got the hang of working on these devices. They said I had to wait til august for general release :(

These boards are dirt cheap. 2 dollars cheap. It depends if you'll be running these devices from an outlet or battery. The ESPs will do exactly what you want but there's a learning curve. I don't know your experience with all

That's great to know. I'm just finishing up an sms messaging water detector. My next project is going to be a small mesh network in the woods. Haven't seen any range tests yet, so this is great news.

I've been playing with these ESP8266 devices lately and they're incredible. They sip power, they cost 2 bucks, and are incredibly versatile. Watch these chips in the future. They're really gonna push the envelope for the IoT.

Recently, I wrote a chrome plugin that saves information of all of the songs I listen to on youtube to amazon since youtube's history API is shit. Theoretically, I could write a nightly job that runs YouTube-dl to turn all of those vid

I also went from iOS to Android (iPhone 4s -> Nexus 5x). I had my 4s for 5 years and loved it. I'd still have it if it weren't for iOS 9 being too big to install and verizon overcharging. I've developed apps on both. Some

PRISM covered monitoring and tracking of your device and the data it sends/receives. This order is to unlock the device itself. A pic taken on the iphone but never uploaded anywhere wouldn't have been caught with PRISM.

Deleted my Facebook about a year ago or so now. I've never been happier. It's funny how unsocial social networks really are.

Dragonaut by Sleep is also pretty good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-FjO3E8K-E One of the few songs where the low quality makes it sound better.

I started really getting into nature, hiking and camping this year. If you aren't careful, it can quickly become an addiction. Although it's probably the healthiest addiction you can have. Most of the time while I'm in my 9-5

This really is the way to go. Next year I'll be trading in my comfy mortgage for the van life. I'll be going from saving 70% of my take home pay to about 90%. Obviously this works best for people without dependents, but some peopl
