it is absolutely worth it to me as a solo developer to pay Apple their 30% to have them handle fulfillment I think one aspect that gets easily lost in the debate is the long-term impact of having your app on the MAS (exclusively or not).

Speaking of sandboxing, Reeder 2 for Mac (one of the best RSS readers) was forced to remove the option to be set as the default RSS reader from within the app. This is because a function on Yosemite is longer allowed in sandboxed apps but s

This is actually just one of the many ridiculous decisions taken by the App Store review team. The truth is that developers keep getting forced to remove functionality, sometimes the decisions are reversed but not always (and it might only

Most likely, your 2013 Mac Pro won't be able to do that because a single cable / single bus DisplayPort v1.2 cannot provide the bandwidth for 5k (DP v1.2 provides about 17.3Gbps which is insufficient). Unless Apple provide a multi

You're ignoring signalling and overhead. The actual usable bandwidth is about 17.3Gbps, thus not enough (for 60fps uncompressed stream). DisplayPort v1.3 can deliver 25.92Gbps of usable bandwidth, thus required for 5k [1]. [1] http:&#

Not 60fps over a single cable / single bus without compression. DisplayPort v1.2 can carry around 17.3Gbps (this is minus overhead), so you would need DP v1.3 with an effective rate of 26Gbps to support native at 5k without compression

Yes, L2013 even uses the old Ivy Bridge-E Xeons and it's due for an update to the Haswell v3 Xeons (note that v3 Xeons use different socket, too, LGA-2011-3 vs LGA-2011 for the v2). If I were in the market for the Mac Pro and could aff

There's just not enough bandwidth over a single bus / single cable with DisplayPort 1.2. The iMac allows them to bypass that bottleneck and be one of the first(?) companies to ship a 5K display to consumers. My predication is that

While having the ability to return an app is necessary (most non-App Store places have 30/60-day money back guarantees), it's not a replacement for trials. For example, there might be 4-5 apps in the $30-50 range that I want to tr
