A lot of non-network programs work in that way. There are many ways to implement it, from having a background process responding to calls, to spawning new process on button press.

The solution that is most widely used is to hold accountable the guys you trust. Unless you are a security expert and test everything yourself, you WILL have to trust someone. Open source helps, but does not solve the trust issue automatica

hey, is it me being far from expert, or: why use UUIDv1 if you can just use timestamp? wouldn't time-based solution be prone to time misconfig across servers? Or that little shuffle doesn't really matter?
