It's good to take a break every once in a while. If you make yourself not check in for a week or two YC will be very interesting when you come back. In fact, it's an amazing experience to avoid the Internet for 3 days. Try it.

I'd say that between the ages of 18-23 your chances of doing something stupid (fighting, drinking) and needing to file a claim should be much greater than your chances of filing a claim for legitimate and unavoidable reasons (tuberculosis).

I would look at it like convertible debt. The co-founder gets x percentage of the company now OR you can buy that equity down in the future once you get funded. Keep it open so that if you work well together the co-founder can stick around
