You guys need to relax. This is cringey for the Ruby community.

What you've done is fantastic. Is there anything that can be done particularly to help along the mcrypt funeral?

Just out of curiosity, what dev work can't you do on Linux? I usually only hear that case for games or graphic/video editing.

The fact that he calls PHP "developer unfriendly" convinces me that that he's probably written 0 lines of PHP code and worked with 0 PHP developers.

This is really amazing, thanks for the recommendation. The fact that it can record not only my mic but my speakers is blowing my mind right now.

> Dummy Content and Placeholders We've started doing something similar with our front-end apps, but it's not placeholders. Our router is set up to store page markup (indexed by DOM node ID) at the end of every page request. So

This looks interesting, but the Ubuntu stable release is asking me to download 1.2GB of packages! Holy crap. I'd like to try this out but why on earth is this bigger than the actual distro?

I hope you're right Sebastian :( I've been following the progress, Joerg, you, and everyone else pretty religiously and there's nothing I'd love more than that phone! I miss the n900.

This is ridiculous. Name ONE option for a "completely open smartphone". I've spent the last 4 years in search of just ONE open phone and the closest we've come is the Neo900 (stalled, out of money) the Freerunner (produc

Yea I know he mentions Android and ChromeOS, but I'm mostly asking where the info is to support his claim that "we know they're tracked by default". I've never come across anything yet related to ChromeOS that even

For us it was a combination of things. It was never really service/uptime related, but I can't count the number of in-app Javascript errors or weird UI decisions they made. The issues were just not good enough and the web pages we

If you can, avoid Bitbucket. We used them for a few years and it just wasn't good, through and through. I've been really impressed with Gitlab and we use that as a backup right now but I really think I'll be moving all of our

How about you take your own advice then? Just because I and millions of others don't think the web is "horribly overengineered", doesn't mean I "don't know anything about engineering".

Yea me too. What I really want is something that looks like Trello where the first list is my Inbox, and then there are 2-3 other lists that I can make up like "This week", "Next week" etc.

This is a strange comment that starts in one place, and ends with your musings on the collapse of Mozilla. First off, Mozilla didn't have FF "fall into their lap" from Netscape. Netscape spun it off and gave birth to Mozilla.

Why is an Exception only something final? Exceptions can be caught, even by type. I regularly use exceptions to break and resume long-running daemons. These exceptions have nothing to do with the user nor the end to the program. I don'

That's interesting and probably more in line with what I need to do. It wouldn't be difficult for me to bring the entire stack online in another datacenter, but if all of your customer data resides on (for simplicity) a master SQL

This is what I'd like to know too. It's easy to suggest mirroring your infrastructure on multiple providers but in practice it's very difficult. Multi-master SQL in particular is non-trivial and that's just one piece of
