Induced demand leads often also to a race-to-the-bottom in pricing. Almost everyone is just using a few basic apps, going against the consumer train is very hard, and only companies are spending money on software.

While I admire the can-do attitude and independent mindset, stories like this strike me primarily as how unscalable doing something like this is. I mean, it only works because not more then 1-2% of developers even try to do something like t

I wasn't denying that a lot of money is being spent, it's how it's spent. What I meant was that subsidies for producing various crops/animal products dwarf all the other spending on rural programs, and not a lot of effor

Farmers seem underrepresented in general economic planning, except when handing out subsidies to keep their votes. I've for instance thought that UBI would be unavoidable in a few decades, but how would we keep farmers to grow food? Th

I agree that the parent is a beneficiary of the education, but my argument is with the fact that "customer" involves one beneficiary. By your logic for instance anyone that's childless shouldn't pay taxes for education,

I've admired Ron's designs for a long time, especially his Conan and Alien work, and have to thank you for confirming what I sort-of wondered about. Designing an object in a fantasy world does seem to resemble building a great cha

I'm trying to see both sides, but how is the parent the customer here? I think you're mixing an opinion on high taxation in general (which you might be right about), versus how big metropolises enjoy labor that was raised somewher

I can't imagine Voltaire claiming any right to be able to delete a pamflet. I think we need to have forgiveness baked into our social layer more, so that forgetting isn't the default.

And the "this is free for 24h" is just a red herring, to make it legitimate for people to speculate? Still crazy that such a semi-anonymous scam got 700k, sounds like there's still a lot of money in crypto ready to gamble.

How exactly does a scam like this work? Access to someone's Twitter account only means that you can just post a link. People seem to have connected their wallet, but they still would need to sign a transaction after that. Did the users

So FF just needs to tighten their Tab UI and allow custom keys. Not sure why there isn't a fork of FF that just looks as much as (legally) possible like Chrome.

Yes, but many of these have one form or another of "take from the middle class and give to everyone else". I wasn't arguing that governments don't do anything, it's that they don't do enough to limit the size i
