I've had this experience with Ally bank. Their SMS-only 2FA, lack of international wire transfers, and compete failure to work with Plaid drive me insane, but I'm still using them because I get a kind, helpful human every time I

Agreed, and we're actually trying to bridge this gap at our company Kurtosis! Docker is great for doing dev - fine-grained control over the container, strong predictability guarantees, fast, and relatively lightweight (in comparison wi

As an American moving to SP, this was one of the most striking things when I first arrived by air. It's buildings, as far as the eye can see, and it looks different somehow: https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu&

That sounds like a fascinating journey that I'd love to read; have you written anything about it? I'm a born-and-raised software engineer (read: meat mecha mindset), but I recently became interested in dance when I moved to Brazil

Is there a bug with write_to_memory.py? (SPOILER BELOW) loop.py does 68 million operations per second, and the text below says "we know about the most we can expect from Python (100 million things/s)", but write_to_memory.py

There's a thing I saw on LessWrong a while ago where he says, "Before declaring a thing impossible, ask, 'Have you put 5 minutes on the clock and just brainstormed?'" In that spirit, here's me doing this about

Unpopular take: this is actually exciting to me. As development has continued, the 1P app seems to have gained in bugs. I've tried reporting these - I like 1P and the 1P team seems to care about delivering a quality product - but using

We're trying to do something very similar to what the OP proposes at our current company (Kurtosis), and we explored YAML, Jsonnet, Dhall, CUE, and general-purpose languages and eventually settled on Starlark: https://docs.k

That's a fair concern: if everything is strict, then there's no option to incrementally roll out a new value. Maybe a proper enum type could always have an `Unknown` value, which would allow for the leniency while still forcing th

I'd add one more to this list: proper enum types. We use enums heavily to force devs who use our code into good choices, but the options are currently: 1) Use int-type enums with iota: no human-readable error values, no compile-time gu
