I don’t buy into this narrative. Every generation has some form of “kids were better when I grew up” and there has been a very long history of kids not respecting others, your generation included. Things are changing as they always do, but

Likewise, we’re using NX at my company and it has been a great experience. Previous mono repo experiences were nothing short of a nightmare so it’s refreshing to see tooling come so far.

I never experienced competition like this in the Army, however I have outside of it. The Army was competitive in a fun way. Where it’s fun to beat your friends in PT or to laugh as they trip over. But when it came down to it, we were on the

I refuse to believe this is normal and I have happily cut people out of my life for this. The most painful moment was when I had a close friend almost enjoy the fact my wife had a miscarriage. It was completely insensitive and made me reali

I distinctly remember working at a company where management were very good at making you feel heard. But with time, it was clear that’s all they were doing.

The article talks about persuasion across the board not getting developed to do their jobs. No country is immune from that either. Get a large enough group of people and politics is the default.

Free markets are the end state, not what is required to become successful. We can see this in countries that have prospered over the last century. Japan and South Korea both had huge land reforms effectively killing the landlord class and r

I have heard variations of most of these in corporate Australia. But this tends to happen between people or teams that don’t know each other.

I’m not sure if this is a joke but if not.. Governments often have complicated forms that need to cater for a broad range of users. So you need things like conditioning steps, file uploads and progress saving. Have fun doing that in pure HT

Thanks for sharing, I had difficulty empathising with the OP but this puts it in perspective. I’m curious, did these ideas come from your upbringing?

Your values are the guide. If your values are to report someone to win brownie points with your boss, it’s probably time to revisit them. Another great guide is asking yourself what you’re trying to accomplish.

I’ve never been in a situation like the author, but I grew up in an incredibly frugal family and I’ve had moments where income was very tight. Those were some of the most stressful times of my life. My mind was fixated on making money and e

This is a great approach and largely how we operate. One of the downsides is that it’s quite stressful for junior team members who don’t have the confidence to run a project. We’ve managed to offset that by having them shadow a more senior
