I resorted to a UserScript to fix the worst of the site's UI problems. https://github.com/mgladdish/website-customisations/tree/mai... I'm particularly pleased with the changes to how comments are r

Why on earth are most of these transposed? The written parts are a semitone out!? The first video is played at the same pitch as what's written, but the next two are a semitone out and Hey Jude is a whole tone away. Bizarre.

Reminds me of Lings Cars: https://www.lingscars.com/ Not a niche or hobbyist website, but a genuine car leasing company. Who's owner deliberately styled the site like this to act as a differentiator in a crowded market

I'd fold the function in to the team and spread the load. You have 7 people, so if you took a week each you'd have a schedule of 6 weeks of "regular" work and 1 week of support. And allocate some time to reducing that le

Well, nothing could possibly go wrong, eh? If your homepage is toadying up to Musk by claiming he has "limitless intellect" then I've already heard enough. We have a duty to consider how what we build can be used to harm othe

That looks nice. The one thing I don't get though is who leaves their documentation artifacts to a SaaS? You're a pricing change / company collapse / systems outage / unacceptable ts&cs change away from losing y

Sure. The network effect explains why it's the defacto standard now, but not necessarily how it got there. And, ironically, I use git for all my projects for exactly the same reasons. Pijul looks interesting though.

Isn't that just a reflection of its current status as the defacto standard, rather than an explanation for how it got there? I've been in two teams that spent time to evaluate revision control systems on their own merits and Mercu

Or we could get off the cargo-cult need to use git on every single project everywhere regardless of how suitable it is for that team's needs. If your tool of choice is so actively user-hostile that it needs another tool on top to under

I decided to run my startup's blog on Medium for two primary reasons: 1) Having someone else already put in the work to get a clean, readable design is a big win 2) The chief reason for blogging is to make people aware of the company.

Probably, yes. I don't remember which client I tried, but that's showing as a previously installed app that's no longer on my phone.

None of the docs I found said that. And we could get on to the network and join pubs. Only there was nothing in there. We should also have been able to invite each other and follow each other's posts, as we were both using devices on t

Seconded. The onboarding is so terrible we just gave up after failing in every possible direction. Nothing worked. It's such a shame as I really like the underlying ideas. But the implementation is hopeless and the way it's presen

This is offensive wibble. "The government" absolutely does care about protecting children, evidenced by the hard work done by children's services teams up and down the country. The government is only faceless if you don'
