I only saw iamelgringo comment ( http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=366487 ) after I posted this. I'd still take anything MS offers with a big bucket of salt.

I agree it might be more productive (I've never used it). But I do feel the costs and associated costs are quite high. Imagine you get accepted by PG into Ycombinator and you have your $15000 in hand to start. Using MS technologies you have

I've noticed that no-one has talked about the cost of using either. Yes the Java IDE's are somewhat inferior to MS's, but you can get everything you need to write, develop, manage, and host Java applications for free compared to MS; the OS,

This probably isn't Google's fault, it's probably the fault of someone on the T-Mobile team or at HTC who accidently left this running on the OS image put on the phones.

It's for that reason I use a non-gmail account for my adsense account. Consumerist has a few articles about this, but they don't offer a solution: http://consumerist.com/consumer/complaints/gmail-disables-us...

Yeah that's the problem, they're all boring and don't lead to a bit of light reading after a hard day at work.

Good reviews on Amazon and it's inexpensive. So maybe I'll pick up a copy. I'm asking cause I might get a gig working for a non-profit that does a lot of biological research.

About time Nokia! However, it would be nice to see some Specs for the phone, how the UI works, and what this means for developers who want to write apps for this phone. Also, with all these different phones running different OS's it makes i

Great it's a good start! :) Just be careful that you don't take courses that won't transfer to a 4-year college (beats me how you'd determine this). Plus, this discussion is good for anyone else in your position and it'd be good to keep the

The problem with moving is the cost! It's can take a lot of money to move, especially to SV, Boston, or NYC. Plus, as an out-of-state resident (state) colleges will be too expensive. However, UMass Boston has a pretty good CS programme at a
