I've no idea how old 6th grade is (didn't go to US highschool), but wouldn't the OLPC, http://laptop.org http://laptop.org , be ideal for a kid to learn programming? They looks at the code of all the applications running on the OLPC and change them on the fly.
- astine 18y agoIn the US, children usually enter 1st grade at age 6. She should be about 11 or 12.
