Oh yeah, that’s even better, totally agree, but it doesn’t negate my point. I don’t think Canon’s 30 or 40 years would be matched by a hypothetical present-day camera upstart, let alone Nikon’s 70 years.

I’ve recently been shooting film with an old EOS camera from the 90s I bought used and it was really nice being able to use the EOS lenses I bought for my DSLR in the 2000s and 2010s. It’s a dying standard now but it’s really impressive it

I can't help but read a strong implication in the article of the problem being with Labour policies. But up until recently, the Conservatives have been in power, for 14 years straight. We can pretend the problem is all nanny state and

I think not just like art, it is art. Making something for the sake of making it, not because it serves a practical need or purpose. Perhaps even because it doesn't.

That was true for Trump 1. This time round, things appear to have changed. The CEOs of these companies sitting front-row at the inauguration is the most visible sign of their newfound mutual love. MAGA have found out these companies will ju

Yes! I think the name put a lot of people off, but it’s super good. Really makes you appreciate breakfast and the integral principles of the structural dynamics of flow as a nice bonus.

Sure, but every country was affected by Covid. Not always to a similar degree as Britain but the differences in Europe in that regard aren't so big. Most handled it similarly, saw similar infection rates and are seeing similar long-ter

Another Dutchie here. Anything not immediately fatal is indeed treated by just taking it easy and perhaps some paracetamol for the placebo effect. I have a chronic illness in the same kind of category and it took me years to find out what i

This is getting scarily close to “most people who get cancer only have themselves to blame” which can be a comforting thought if you’re putting in a lot of effort to reduce your own risk of cancer but at the end of the day it’s not true and

As to why, no idea. I guess some engineer was just familiar with it from their undergrad days like the rest of us. And which version, I know it’s MINIX 3 but beyond that? No idea. They probably heavily modified it and as Minix is not GPL, I

Not to mention MINIX is hidden away in almost every modern Intel CPU as part of its Management Engine. This little known fact makes it one of the most widely distributed operating systems.

I'm in Europe and this hasn't been my experience _at all_. I recently started using HA. I bought a HomeAssistant Yellow box which was very easy and got delivered to me speedily from within Europe. I set up my device and the web in

Ha, yes, I have an 'eij' in my last name and constantly explaining it's both the short ei and the long ij is maddening. In reality of course, it's just an e followed by an 'ij' but yeah no never mind.

Idk, I personally did it for a HPC cluster two years ago. 2x100GbE + OmniPath was a sensible way to reduce cost, especially as the cluster was very light on GPU power and mostly focussed on CPU-bound jobs. Last I heard everyone there is sti
