The fact that apparently, this tiny little sensor board can reliably measure your heart rate from a distance by using radar is kind of blowing my mind.

What I don’t understand is why. Their OS is built on a linux kernel from at most a couple of years ago. I’m assuming the same goes for the libraries and the parts of the userland they didn’t make themselves. On any linux kernel not from the

Ne2000 was my first NIC and I remember it dearly. It allowed my crummy old computer to connect to the family computer and by proxy its modem and the internet. Having access to the internet from my own bedroom was a game-changer for me as a

I remember running this (way earlier than 2011, like 2003?) and it was really cool but it’d slow down the real time clock on the ‘host’ (co-habitating?) Windows install. I figured that was due to the clock being tied to cpu cycles and Linux

I really like BIRD. Having no prior experience with that sort of thing, we became a LIR at work and set up announcing our IP space to three different transit providers in three different sites. By using regular familiar looking config files

I use WINE on a daily basis for 1Password. The browser integration even works with the native Linux version of Chrome, which is a much better user experience than copypasting passwords from the html/js based 1PasswordAnywhere.

I think this is a tricky problem to properly solve. Or rather: An opportunity for Twitter to really mess up attempting to fix this. A big part of what makes Twitter interesting/worthwhile is the ability to interact with lots of differe

Interesting! I'd think, in theory the ECMP router could keep track of the MTU on a per IP basis (rather than per TCP connection) based on it having received the ICM unreachable packet. And from that moment on, sending a spoofed ICMP pa

Even though I got a laugh out of it, I propose we change the definition of esoteric programming languages to require more creativity from their designer than reimplementing brainfuck with different tokens for the operators.

I never said it was a problem with the language. I said it was poorly supported in a lot of platforms including PHP and I stand by that. It has nothing to do with passing security audits or withstanding attacks, there's not a securit

It's awful how poorly IN-clauses are supported (in lots of places, not just PHP) considering how often they're used and how useful they are. I mean basic stuff like being able to use them securely or making programmers write their
