Never parse a data file with regex or string functions. Always spend the small extra time to at least write a state machine.

I came here to say this but instead I am upvoting this. Pyinstaller is awesome. Another thing to add, if you use run pyinstaller in docker with an old base image and copy the executable out, you can make a pyinstaller executable that will r

I agree. Statistics are not self evident. If you want to live a long life, build a nuclear power plant, don't smoke and wait for the lights before crossing. Similarly, there was a person eaten by a shark at my local beach last week. Ev

From an engineering perspective, I would guess, as an avionics tech, back in the age of dinosaurs, these radio altimeters are probably of a very old simplistic design as to have dead simple and reliable electronics built with an absolute mi

The sort of methods 'PageRank' uses already existed. It reminds of Apple `inventing` (air quotes) the mp3 player. It didn't, it applied existing technology, refined it and publicized it. They did not invent it but maybe

Tools like prefect.io, IMHO, are just this. A 'modular' Airflow where you can pick and choose to use the just the DAG with no GUI, workflow GUI, scheduling, runners of all types from local to k8s.

I see this come up more and more in calendar widgets. They don't allow any manual entry so if you are older than 30 and the year of birth picker is some ultra custom SPOS it takes old people like me literally 30 seconds to enter my bir

The chance of getting a million a year in stock equivalent is next to nil. These are extreme outliers, you can probably count the number of companies on two hands, and maybe name them all. In terms of statistics, achieving this would be ver

If you want to give up your $1M salary (seriously WTF) and you want to have much more control over a technology stack, sure. I halved my salary and worked in startups for quite a few years, some things were fantastic. For example, bootstrap
