A iptables hashlimit rule can do the same. Your firewall rules get to be more readable and you don't end up relying on the security of a log parser. The biggest win comes from just disabling password authentication in sshd though.

I use irc primarily, but use Discord for D&D. Voice chat, plus screen sharing. Our DM shares their screen with the map, we use voice to play, and text chat for sharing details about initiative etc. We could probably use mumble and somet

There are heated boots that use Milwaukee batteries, you can also get jackets. Don't know when they'll get on the Peltier/TEC train though.

Corporations can make any judgement call about who can or should use their product. Though it does seem rare in the US for companies to prevent others from using their product based on ethical or moral reasons, but more should.

... I was a problem kid. Believe me, schools have ways to deal with problem kids. It doesn't require installing big brother screens in the toilet. For me the problem was that most schools are all about memorization and thinking inside

I once did some Linux work for a company that ran everything on OpenVMS. The Operator gave me a tour of the systems, and their functionality. I was BLOWN AWAY. I have always considered it a interesting historical niche that I'd love to

Its very rare that "buying" a ebook results in you "owning" the copy you bought, at best its a rental. A physical book though, if you are holding it in your hands, you own it.

A user who has a working cell phone could contact a user who is on a network experiencing issues. Because the call fails, that user may decide their cell network is also faulty. Downdetector only works on user reports. Its basically useless

I'm a only child, and was a free-range/latch-key kid in the 80's. I'm thankful for my neighborhood friends, they were a excellent safety substitute for my non-existent siblings.
