Ah. Here you'll find you're miles from most people's definition.

My argument is fairly straightforward. The universe is much larger than our appetites, and that's the horizon we're talking about with economics- centuries, not the heat death of the universe. Your comment about gasoline is a good

Value is a subjective thing. Of course it can be created- if I decide to value something.

For the record, I'm certainly sympathetic to arguments re: wealth inequality. I've just observed first-hand that it's possible to create value without taking something away from someone else.

What's misguided is your fatalistic application of thermodynamics. I of course understand that there is a limited amount of energy in the universe, and that it will one day all stop due to heat death. I disagree that that has any impac

I have a saw, you have a log. If we bring our resources together, we can build something more economically valuable than the sum of the parts, and we both benefit. That's not a zero sum game.

Don't see the why an Atl co couldn't take them on regardless of relocation. It's an hour and a half, so monthly in person meetings would be easy

As someone who's lived in both places, Nashville has plenty of issues as well. Never seeing homeless people or people who don't look like you doesn't mean they aren't the or that there's not a problem, it just means

It sounds like France and the UK both played a part in early nuclear weapons development in Israel as well.

I should've included a "I have no idea what I'm talking about" disclaimer. Thanks for the info, just read a bit more about it.

Obviously OP is too picky, but there are plenty of server-side and client-side options that fit the requirements. Eg Clojure / Clojurescript, Haskell, Scala, Typescript

I've copped to making a mistake, and reread the article for good measure. What else do you propose I do to make you happy? We use paid acquisition to promote the site, and an HN comment certainly won't make a difference to our mon

My mistake, I reversed the payment direction. I'm obviously a scum-of-the-earth shill and not someone who's deeply interested in the space commenting lazily. Go through my profile and tell me I'm not a contributor.

It's the fact that the author paid in bitcoin that made this work. Most other online payment methods can be easily reversed with evidence of fraud. We deal with this sort of stuff all the time running cardforcoin.com. Social evidence i

With a couple high-profile exceptions, it's all human-ready. We all just have different preferences, and complain when we move somewhere where the water doesn't taste like "home".

I think the CFTC interference is overstated- BitFinex still could have segregated cold wallets for the whales, and I've heard they made the change primarily in response to the last hack. I want the CFTC interference to be the primary i

How would this bill prevent that? I'd argue it wouldn't, because shenanigans like this aren't happening at US-run bitcoin companies. We already have federal MSB regulations, and should solve this at the federal level. The pro

This diagram is to answer the private blockchain hype. It's not meant to address any piece of technology- just qualify when a blockchain doesn't provide clear value.

That's not entirely correct. If 51% of the network is overtaken, and blocks are mined that aren't considered valid, that 51% will have hard-forked the network. The 49% chain will likely maintain its value- since the new blocks won

"Person-first language" is a thing in special education- I wouldn't be surprised if that were preferred here. The idea behind it is that the adjective isn't the defining attribute of the person.
