FWIW I thought it was a genuine comment. That's really specific, interesting advice in finding the sort of people who'd make good co-founders.

The point still stands in practice- it's an interesting sociology of science topic. There are often unwritten rules and protocols that have a huge impact.

You're right, though you should end most of your comments with "for us". We've been burned by the microservice hype, and it took a while for us to realize that most of the touted benefits are for larger organizations. Th

I introduced Redux into an app with an older version of React, and instead of updating decided to reimplement the important parts of `react-redux` as a shim. Didn't take long, and it was a satisfying education.

It's clearly not a fair comparison. At some point you need to introduce an age of determination or at least a grade to have a reasonable conversation about the ethics of parenting. Parents are required to do all sorts of things in thei

Spec (and more generally, contracts) aren't just about "making up" for the lack of static typing. They can encode a variety of invariants that a type-system can't, and are also useful for parsing (see coercion) and gener

One of the Clojure validation libs predating spec, schema, has saved us from a ton of errors, and works similarly. It also opens up reasoning about data shape- eg, auto-generating test data based on schemas. spec's support for that use

The IRS has already released guidance on this [1]. It might be interesting to think about, but right now it's straightforward in practice. IANAL, etc. Edit: Well, for some definition of straightforward :) [1] - https://www.i
