Or just good sections, not just stream of concsciousness rambling. That would also be sticking perfectly to the metaphor, swapping floppy disks should be familiar to everyone who every held one in their hands. As long as the podcast doesn&#

This looks usable for desktop tasks, does anyone have tips for a good display to pair with it, optimized for energy saving (in the 24", FullHD class)?

I would agree somewhat with pure textual matter. Incidentally, the one thing where SGML doesn't totally suck, as it was pretty much invented for this. It still has a pretty writing experience if you're going beyond just paragraphs

320x240 was one of the benefits, but the more important part was that it allowed you to use all the memory, double buffer, use split screens (for HUDs) etc. Addressing became more complicated, though. (And IIRC, Doom ran in 320x200 Mode X,

It's interesting that these days it's quite easy to get into deep terminal emulator inception: xterm/Terminal.app/WSL -> tmux/screen -> vim and now aerc.

As MacOS is a certified Unix, like the workstations of days gone by, they should've gone all out enterprise and switched to ksh. Heck, the new Mac Pro is even priced like a SGI/AIdX box.

Yes, then we'll get native J2EE in the browser instead of JS copies… The whole interaction model is just a lot more tedious than desktop UI development. One of the few approaches that I actually liked (not just tolerated) was Seaside

I've been burnt by the non-Euclidian enormity of ExtJS, so I understand the desire for something simpler. On the other hand, when you leave the world of progressive enhancement and widgets (ie. jQuery), you find yourself needing a lot

I quite liked Arena and Chimera (the Xaw one, not the predecessor of Camino) in my early Linux days. Although Netscape 2/3 quickly took over.

Most of those I saw were pretty much the same. Towers with windows and those ugly LED wall triangles, often aiming for a "vaporwave"/CGA look. There was definitely more variety when beige cases were the rule and you had to pa

I was talking about the nuclear version/free energy thing mentioned by the parent. The language itself is probably more popular than the "tech", at least it demonstrably works.

Here in Germany I knew basically no one who had an 8-bit Atari, it only became popular enough with the ST. And even then it led a bit of a pariah existence behind the Amiga, just like the Midgard RPG was behind the Dark Eye RPG (to keep wit

The problem is that even with serial numbers things aren't as fixed. You might have a different type of serial number, zip code, etc.. A check constraint can be expanded to do the appropriate length and formatting checks for most types

Sorry to say, but I find the criticism in this form to be quite meaningless. What does a motto have to do with any kind of validity for a certain purpose? Python has the "Zen of Python", does this inherently make it a better solut
