It seems that the main piece of 'evidence' here is a post by someone who wants to "disrupt poetry" (contra the OP, no mention is made of an IPO), admits it's a "longshot", and in fact is abandoning the project to join a different startup. M

Maybe there should be an official HN policy to post one-page stories when available, and perhaps even alter story URIs when necessary?

I saw that, too; it's from an interview at TechCrunch50 in 2008. You'll see that he actually bought the lifetime pass before Broadcast.com. Most people don't realize that Cuban was already rich when he started work on Broadcast.com, and c

Thanks for the feedback. The timing wasn't good on this, and I didn't know until today that this DRM thing was happening. I hate DRM so much, though, that I really wanted to do something. I may have gotten a little carried away. By the way,

Going public creates a liquid market in the company's shares, which allows the owners to convert equity to cash. This ability is especially prized by investors, but founders and employees-with-options also benefit. (It's hard to buy a house

Such disasters could happen, and minimizing their frequency is an important engineering problem. But you have a long road to hoe if you want to argue that the average quality of private management isn't much better than the average qualit

California is "struggling" because of atrociously bad management. It's not like the state lacks in physical or human capital. I mean, Jeebus, the Golden State is home to the capitals of two of the world's greatest industries (entertainment

This only true the first time. The thrill of being a published author wears off quickly when you realize that this doesn't pay the rent. (In my case, the second time 'round I figured out how to get it to pay the rent as well. Believe me,

The Rails version number is highlighted in the right-hand margin (3.2 indicating the 2nd edition). Also, to make the choice easy, the 2nd edition is now the default.
