I didn't take the train because I was transporting my son's sailing boat back from a competition. Also the train line was flooded yesterday, so that wouldn't have been an option. But normally that's not a problem, and

Automatics are great when they work. I do have automatic wipers, which usually work pretty well. Fortunately they didn't remove the manual controls though because I had a boat on the roof yesterday, and the rain sensor behind the rear

The EU banned field use of neonicotinoid pesticides from the start of this year. Is there evidence yet that insect populations within the EU are recovering this year? It's too early for scientific publications to have come out, but i

If you're going to pretend to be TCP, you probably need to look like TCP to middleboxes. When we investigated this a few years back, we found that on port 80, only 85% of the client locations we tested would pass TCP if there were hol

LoRa has become the tool of choice for the high altitude balloon community. At least in the UK, you're restricted to 10mW in the 434MHz band when airborne. People have been pretty successful at getting (very) slow-scan video from bal

Under GDPR, Google can only use your data for the uses you have given permission for. This includes not handing it to other companies (via their API or otherwise) for any other uses.

My 12 year old is very creative in Kerbal Space Program. And what he's trying to do is hard - things never work first time, and you have to spent a lot of time trying to figure out why. Sure, it's not how I learned, building go-

We could always ask a different question: what would it take for everyone to have a copy of the index? Humans can only produce new text-based content at a linear rate. If storage continues to grow at an exponential rate, eventually it bec
