True, but when your cache configuration has exactly 2 TTLs and modalities, I don't think it's offbase to expect them to test what happens in the cache hit/miss scenarios for each of those. (I write this as someone who likes

Every low-effort, thought-free comment like this further discourages people from engaging here on submissions about their employer. Please don't.

> One cannot set up a business where another company becomes critical to your operations. This describes a large percentage of successful businesses that exist today. Not even just in tech.

We have our groceries delivered every week (sometimes semi-weekly), and have done since 2018 or so. The people who pick the order work for the store, the people who deliver are gig workers. The only "selection" complaint I regular

I agree with your thoughts on 4.6. It's possible they tried to train this out of it for 4.7 and over corrected, and the addition to the system prompt is to rein it in a bit.

I recommend talking that projection over with a therapist, rather than pseudonymous HN commenters.

They definitely can, and do. It's just that the ones that manage to suppress all the AI writing "tells" go unnoticed as AI. This is a type of survivorship bias, though I feel there must be a better term for it that eludes me.

I'm sure there are, I didn't mean to imply otherwise. It's just that the numbers are relatively small. I'm actually surprised that Amazon didn't offer to do a buyback of them.

It's all from external pressure. Amazon spending energy on ebook DRM is a negative ROI activity for them. A vanishingly small % of would-be ebook buyers even know pirated ones exist, and an even smaller one knows how to get those onto

I still haven't seen any statistically sound data supporting that this is happening on the API (per-token pricing.) If you've got something to share I'd love to see it.

If I'm understanding the thread correctly, I have a git alias to `git commit --amend --no-edit`, for exactly this workflow. When I'm hacking on something locally and want to just keep amending a commit. I only ever do this if it&#

A lot of people are making the mistake of noticing that local models have been 12-24 months behind SotA ones for a good portion of the last couple years, and then drawing a dotted line assuming that continues to hold. It simply.. doesn'

No, there's approximately just as much technical and interesting content on Twitter as there used to be. Lots of people left, lots of different people joined. It's just that this content is outnumbered some 100,000:1 now instead o

I would mind far less if the political comments were only the political posts. I just avoid clicking into those. It's when I click into an interesting topic, and it's steered into being an offtopic retread of every other thread ab

HN is my top candidate for a solution like this, too. Because there's a ton of high quality content here, increasingly buried beneath a small number of sentiments and topics I don't care to see rehashed constantly.

That was the state of play in 2015 as well. In the absence of a claim from the group otherwise, I wouldn't be surprised if they simply couldn't get it to stop (on a technical level.) Way back when, it was a pretty common screwup t

I've read the source a few years back. It's all implemented fairly as it says on the tin. I've long been suspicious of the RNG/seed implementation.. but not curious enough to automate testing of it, though.
