I'll keep that in mind! (I'm sure there will be many mistakes on the road ^^') In the meantime, my Twitter is in my profile, and I'm pretty sure I'll post a few snaps here and there :)

In 2017 I want to move my digital electronics skills from "patching together 30 years old ICs on a breadboard while playing with devkits" to "designing a simple board with modern components". I'm finally taking the

Well... The consensus is that RethinkDB is technically superior (and much more pleasant to use), but unfortunately that doesn't prevent it from being in a hard position business-wise...

In my experience (10 years living in Japan) it's actually extremely easy to do bank transfers, so easy that actually many people use bank transfer to pay for online purchases. It does cost a bit though (from ~100 to ~600 Yens depending

I am a very happy user of Phoenix myself, and also a MMO game programmer, and unfortunately I can say with confidence that you won't implement a real-time MMO FPS on top of Phoenix channels any soon. Not because of Phoenix itself, but

I'm working on a PC game and spoke to a lot of potential investors, and this is spot on. "Funding an original game that has already proved itself by actual sales, on a proven and stable platform?" Not interested. "Giving

I think this is a common issue when reading materials not in your native language. I can read a book written in French at least twice faster than the same book written in English, even though I use English daily and consider myself fluent.

This is where I make my obligatory comment about the game I've been developing on my own for 2+ years: Gangs of Space. It is heavily inspired by EVE Online, more arcade-oriented (but keeping or expanding all the good parts like unique

Well, if you take lessons from your failures, you end up in a better position after each one. So it's definitely not like flipping a coin with independant outcomes.

Any PC (Windows/Mac/Linux) sold in the last 5 years should be fine (might want ~600 Mb free RAM when a lot of players play at the same spot, but that's all). Up-to-date graphic drivers do help, especially on Linux.

My craziest bug was a Java clock issue. If you had some specific model of motherboard, calling System.getCurrentTimeMillis() repetitively could actually make your system clock run faster. I mean, actually CHANGE the system clock. For real.
