Yes because developers don’t want to pay $100 to then go through a super annoying notarization process to distribute their FOSS app.

Let me guess: Doc Martens… their boots (especially faux leather ones) are absolutely bottom tier garbage.

I only got CXL. After that experience, I am not too tempted to mess with my eyes anymore :(

There was screening. They said the cornea was a bit weak, but still fine… Last time I checked it wasn’t yet declared a genetic thing and there is no history of Keratoconus in my family.

There is no way to prove it, but I am pretty sure I developed Keratoconus due to Lasik.

For discovering files in an unknown codebase I use the grep feature in Helix (or just ripgrep CLI). Way faster than going through a tree in most cases.

No but I saw the author of AccessKit voicing on Zed discord that he would like to help implement it into GPUI and Mikayla from the Zed team being very enthusiastic about it.

Oh I was definitely testing with a large account and I was also using sliding sync. It doesn’t matter though. I moved on to the rust sdk with this project and it’s awesome :)

the matrix-js-sdk. I think the problem was that the crypto part is just loading a huge binary (WASM?) which instantly caused the extension to crash.

I agree for 99% of extensions their model is amazing. And I wouldn't expect me to come up with a better one any time soon. The problem is that I want to do more in my launcher. Two examples: - I wasn't happy with the official bi

I think they started out using GPUI, but might have diverged. They mention flutter and GPUI v1 was Flutter inspired. GPUI v2 which is what's not released to the public isn't Flutter inspired anymore.

I mean it's fine for the most part, but I had to serialize/deserialize a lot because I wanted to keep all the business logic in Rust. Also there was some very noticable latency after serializing in Rust -> moving state to the W

Author here: it is definitely still early and a lot of what you would expect from an GUI framework is missing. It just gives you the bare minimum of building blocks. You can think of it like building a website with exclusively <div> &

Thank you! I have mostly worked on web apps before this. I built the same app with Tauri before deciding to move to GPUI and a pure rust UI. Pros: - GPUI is heavily inspired by Tailwind, which made me productive pretty quickly. - I love the

I have been working on a hobby project in Tauri and I am incredibly intrigued by GPUI. - I already keep all my state and logic in Rust - GPUI would allow me to skip Tauri commands and listeners and instead just implement the renderers direc

The M3 Pro being nerfed has been parroted on the Internet since the announcement. Practically it’s a great choice. It’s much more efficient than the M2 Pro at slightly better performance. That’s what I am looking for in a laptop. I don’t re

For our usecase (Ceph), if one server starts swapping, it completely kills the entire cluster performance. Killing the service (with earlyoom) is preferable in most circumstances.

Actually no there are other reasons. Meta oomd requires you to have swap enabled, which makes it a non-starter for us. systemd-oomd has its own set of drawbacks. We evaluated all options at length and earlyoom came out as the clear winner f
