There are much larger Ceph clusters, but they are enterprise owned and not really publicly talked about. Sadly I can’t share what I personally worked on.

Well sure you would have to enforce immutability at the client side.

There are definitely insanely large Ceph deployments. I have seen hundreds of PBs in production myself. Also your usecase sounds like something that should be quite manageable for Ceph to handle due to limited metadata activity, which tends

Insanely cool. I wrote my own raycast inspired launcher a while ago and never got around to adding proper extension support. There is also https://github.com/project-gauntlet/gauntlet which also has react extensions, b

I think there might also just be a vocal minority and/or some astroturfing hyping AI coding around hackernews. I personally keep trying all the latest shit and always stop using it, because it actively slows me down.

Your docs on selfhosting are a bit light. Can you use the mobile app while selfhosting? That would be the main selling point for me.

What does proof-of-work mean here and what makes it easy for humans and hard for bots?

Cursor is great because it’s a flat subscription. Aider/Claude Code would be much more expensive for daily usage. When Cursor enshittifies I will use something else. It’s not like I am locked in.

How is Ladybird so much further ahead when servo had years of commercial funding? Just different priorities?

As somebody who maintains a very large Svelte app and upgraded from 4 to 5, I couldn’t be happier with the changes. For simple components the old approach was just fine, but the larger the codebase gets the harder it gets to work with.

Jup same here. There is always so much negativity on Hackernews. I have been running synapse without issue for years and it has been a joy!

Some of the best home automation stuff is cloud-less wifi. For example Shelly switches with Tasmota are awesome and I much prefer those over zigbee bulbs.

Bazzite is the answer. It’s basically out of the box SteamOS, just somehow even better.

Complete opposite of my experience. Caddy is by far the most sane reverse proxy configuration out of the ones I tried (Nginx, Traefik, Caddy).

ElementX on iOS feels really good these days. On the desktop though, I feel nothing really scratches the Discord itch.

How old are the kids? My wife can’t find well fitting watch bands for the smallest Apple Watch due to here thin wrists. Can’t imagine finding some for a kid.

What do you mean with bordered? The Zed application window is a fairly default NSWindow (on MacOS). You will have no problems replicating it in Iced/Winit. The popup WindowKind in GPUI is just used in Zed for some notifications as far

My biggest reason for wanting to switch away from GPUI is because there is barely any momentum in making it a general purpose framework. Zed team is mostly just focusing on Zed usecase and the end user is left implementing basic functionali

I am building an app [0] with GPUI. I think it’s very ergonomic, but it’s missing so much stuff that you would expect in a GUI library. There isn’t even a text input element. I would be lying if I wasn’t thinking about jumping off. I gotta
