I've only been using 2x images for UI elements and logos. Photos still look fine at standard res (especially if 'Saved for Web' with a .25 blur). A recent project included a 25K 8-bit 2x sprite sheet, and a 13K 1x sprite sheet for LTE IE8.

There are certainly great games that lend themselves to touch, but there are also some great games that would be much nicer to play with tactile controls: platformers like League of Evil, Muffin Knight; dual stick shooters; GTA 3 and Max Pa

You can't see the difference in text, particularly small text? Nytimes.com for example, is much harder for me to read on my wife's iPad 1 vs my new iPad or nexus 7. Comparing photos, I don't notice the resolution so much as the increased co

How about this part? "Just look at the code below - do you really think you can understand it? Of course not." What kind of a presumptuous ass puts something like that at the top of their source? Tailored Music, Inc. does.

Relative positioning. Floats. Fonts (dynamic of course; particularly targeting 9 and below - functional, but pretty buggy). Hardware accelerated transforms. For games (and certainly banners)? I still think there's long way to go to catch up

Thanks, I still love the app, and I really don't use it outside of desktop (during development), but on a touch-enabled device I just instinctively want to start dragging my cards around. And the native app is nice as-is on a phone (draggab

Both this and the iPhone app are nice for a 320px use case, but for tablet, the web app is much nicer. It would be great if the web app supported touch-based drag and drop (jQuery UI touch punch?). Or if the native apps (which do use dragg

Just a personal aside on the egg yolks - When I was 20lbs overweight, my cholesterol was a little above 200. I've since lost weight and eat 4 whole eggs for breakfast, and my cholesterol stays around 130, unfasted. I'm careful when it comes

I get the same way from time to time, especially after a workout. I feel (but could very well be wrong) that it's a sign of insulin resistance.

I've got a friend who has been on something akin to the warrior diet without knowing it. He works as a server, so He's up all night and sleeps during the day with one grand, large meal he eats in the afternoon. He did it more as a convenien

I think the halo effect of Google's devices (and Jelly Bean) strengthens the market and opens it up for tablets with more features. I'd pay $150 more for a 7" with DLNA, sd card, and a rear camera (for scanning, goggles, and AR).

I wasn't even aware CSS3 added 130 color keywords. I like the larger size of the chips used here, but prefer the labeled list on MDN: https://developer.mozilla.org/en/CSS/color_value#Color_Keywo...

I'm surprised the article didn't mention the Tiny Wings/Wavespark thing. It's a great example of how far execution and polish (and for that matter, timing, venue, art style, etc.) can take a relatively simple, but unique idea and mechanic:

I have an HP zr2740w (27", 2560x1440), just under $700. Nice screen, but it's pretty bare-bones. No HDMI or analog inputs (just displayport and DVI-D); no OSD (seriously - none!) and a pretty cheap stand. Overall, the extras in the Dell are

You're right - I just switched to a 2560w 27" (from 1920w 24") and can now fit a browser at 1280px on the left side of the screen, and Sublime Text at 1280px on the right. The display, ST with the SFTP plugin and LiveReload have made much m

After taking a look at Xcode in an Air Display window on a new iPad (2048x1536 across 10"), I don't think I'd even want to use the MBP retina display at native res - I was having trouble reading the text at > 12" away.

I use one ID for my wife's iPad, my kids' 2 iPods, and my iPad. Rather than setting up 'stub' Apple IDs for the three of them, I just added additional email addresses to my ID so that they each have their own Messaging and FaceTime account.
