I worked on the Linux Kernel team at Qualcomm for about five years, left in 2016. Our director was very much in favor of upstreaming but the product release schedules were so aggressive everyone was scrambling just to hit customer deadlines

As others have mentioned, `C-h t` should be enough to get you comfortable using it as your daily driver. From there the sky is the limit!

Yeah, where this gets really interesting is in the integration with the project's build system, CI, and test environments. I'm envisioning a project with a full automated build and test suite with an on-demand staging environment

If you're running Linus' master branch, yes, things are going to break from time to time. Stick to LTS releases (which is what most distros use) and you'll be fine.

It's actually `git commit --amend --no-edit`, but yes, it's basically "just" a shortcut. Count the keystrokes, though. If you spend much time working with git it's a huge win. Of course you could do something simila

It's definitely slower for me (Linux, recent Intel with 20 cores, 32 GB RAM). I still use it on principle. But let's not get complacent with regards to performance. That's why Chrome won in the first place.
