Have you played a big budget video game released in the last 10 years? It’s pretty standard to reach upwards of 60GB.

On fast machines the latency is low enough I don’t complain… but the point about search results shifting is very much a problem. Often times searching a builtin windows feature will fail to show the correct result without some weird switchi

I love Technitium DNS and have run it for several years now. Thanks for the contributions.

Shoutout to Mikrotik for being the only consumer vendor with good router/firewall combos. I recommend getting one if you're comfortable doing a bit of work to setup a secure home network.

My understanding is that docker escapes are not all that difficult, and your aliases really aren’t doing much to harden the container. but I am not an expert on the matter. I’m sure there is plenty of info online

Good question with a lot of possible answers. You can take sandboxing as far as you want, really. I typically just use bubblewrap (linux)

Docker is not a sandbox. There is some work that can be done to harden it, but you're better off looking at genuinely sandboxing your dev environment

I agree, soma definitely parallels weed much more closely, but I don't think it's a perfect match. Huxley imagines a drug a bit more insidious, without obviously negative side effects, and with somewhat unrealistic(imo) intended e

The announcement is geared towards .NET devs. If you're reading Avalonia blog posts outside of HN front page, you definitely know what MAUI is.

Temporal sampling techniques do (in supported titles) have the option to supersample and generate higher resolution images, but they are most commonly used to efficiently downsample for FPS gains with minimal quality degradation. From the W

By temporal I refer to DLSS, FSR, TSR, etc. In this game's case, I imagine it's not as simple as downscaling, there is probably some shader work involved similar to this: https://youtu.be/Cwh_TpouPfQ

Depends on the technique used. Temporal methods don’t look this way but standard downscaling can.

Yeah, I don't think this is anything revolutionary. I was thinking they were actually doing something a-la DOOM's pseudo 3D, but no, this is definitely just downscaled 3D.

I found the online editor really easy to use, but it doesn't expose all of the functionality in GUI, you'll need to read docs.

There are numerous other, much more professional and vetted distributions that will better serve you. If you had read the article you’d not be making this comment.

The gap this fills is simple: those who just want a flashy arch installation to post on socials. These people have no concerns about quality because they haven’t used Linux extensively and aren’t using their OS for genuine work.

'The world continuing to go on' is the status quo and has been for millenia at this point. Sure, the argument can be made that the world will end eventually, but if we do not have our reference timescale, what do we have? People a

I am a big fan of using it when working with somewhat complicated toolchains, especially if they need to be compiled. Cleaning up the file system is as simple as deleting the container and starting a new one. OCaml on windows comes to mind.

As I said in an above comment, nobody with sense is going to claim lead is healthy. I’m just saying CR could just as easily come up with the same findings for other foodstuffs. Obviously change needs to happen but this doesn’t seem like it

I think we can all agree on that, but it still seems like CR's article is a bit reactionary considering it is normal to find some levels of lead in most FDA regulated foodstuffs?
