In addition to this, if a lot of the libraries you're using are written in PHP, it makes a ton of sense that command line scripts using those libraries would also be written in PHP.

He's not making a comparison to the traveling salesman problem; he's saying the businessperson only intended to visit one city, but the trip ended up requiring visits to several additional cities. It's not a terrible analogy.

Amazon Restaurants is a great service which has been around for some time now, at least here in Seattle. I use it pretty much exclusively now instead of other similar services I've used in the past. The minimum order is much lower ($20

I wasn't a mega commuter, but I had a commute of around an hour. A few years back, I moved into the city. One of the most life changing decisions I've ever made. I didn't love commuting at the time, but it wasn't the wor

Much ad revenue comes from views, not clicks. Some quick back of the napkin math: - 21.2 billion visits in 2015 - Average of 9% of users using Ad Block - Let's assume an average CPM (amount paid per 1000 views) of $2.00 - Let's as

This is my biggest feature request here as well. I'll often write a lot of small comments inline in the diff, and a bigger comment on the PR itself tying everything together. It'd be nice to be able to submit it all at once, with

Clicked on this link expecting it to be something about the Stable marriage problem or Gale-Shapley algorithm. Still interesting data though.

Some clarification here about PHP versioning: the next minor version of will be PHP 5.6, which is still under development and has not yet been released. What is referred to as PHP 5.7 here is phpng, a proposed next major version of PHP. T

I think there was a more general question here that was missed: can a == x && a == y ever be true for any arbitrary values of a, x, and y, where x != y. From a logical point of view, no, this can never be true. I would suspect this

Great line from the interview: > WB: I can guarantee that you are wrong about where your code is spending most of its time if you haven't run a profiler on it. Definitely a good thing for all programmers to think about!

How does this compare to the existing s3cmd [1] tool? One issue I've had with s3cmd is it tends to use a lot of memory when syncing two large buckets. I'd love to see a tool that was faster / more memory efficient than s3cmd.

I found this tour a bit difficult to navigate. The tooltip moves to a different spot each time you click prev/next, making it hard to follow the whole tour. Perhaps navigation that stays in a fixed spot could make this easier to use.
