When I have used it, and I have to for a certain project, it is incredibly slow to resolve depenendcies. Enough so that I go for a walk or do something else for 15 minutes while it thinks about whatever it's doing.

I learned and was fluent with Mathematica early and learned python later. I still run to Mathematica for doing symbolic analysis because there is basically no impedement between my ideas and the keyboard when I am solving that type of prob

There is no "right" thing. There may be an optimal thing from the development perspective and an optimal thing from the business perspective. Since the two pieces cannot exist without each other, both parties have to communicate
