Filters are not the panacea for this problem. I could filter by application, but that does not mean all input from an application are meaningless. The automated stuff is what everyone wants to filter, but there are apps where that could be

Can anyone provide a resource for how these types of valuations are actually thought of? I assume it's a per user calculation but how is a per-user value found?

Do Not Target would then be equivalent to security cameras, so I see that is the ultimate outcome. You cannot viably eliminate tracking via Do Not Track... the entire modern Internet is based on the concept of tracking.

Can anyone shed light onto the type of machanisms that would go into making a real-time code executor like we see here?

This should be quite interesting. I've had much respect for 10gen since I've seen them speak at a few conferences and have generally been out and about getting the word out about Mongo. I wonder if they are just going to strengthen their ex

Developers really do complain a lot, don't they? PHP offers unparalleled flexibility if you have any notion whatsoever of how to properly develop things. Those who think otherwise are most likely stalwart proponents of some other language,

Did your institution go the seldom traveled route of encrypting sensitive information? Typically all the effort is spent trying to avoid breaches instead of protecting against them when they occur.

I would tend to think financial/banking/<insert would-be secure application here> would be insecure no matter what data store they use. It seems to just be part of the game - ask anyone that's developed for one. One would assume tha

This was a terrible attempt at a joke - it wasn't even given much thought or effort at all. Yet this garbage video makes it to page one on hacker news? Pathetic.

You have to give your brain a break. That doesn't necessarily mean doing nothing but it can be doing something more along the lines of a hobby - such as creating music, doing graphics, gardening etc... One of the most common overlooked thin

What exactly do people do with this data, specifically for sites like hackernews? I don't think I've ever particularly cared about my own comments. Without context they are pretty much useless anyway.

Fair point, but like I said, if everyone works in bubbles they will all have to deal with this over and over again in different ways. Since these game companies are not actually doing anything for the platform itself, like sharing their lib

Most people will never even know what the hell you are talking about with the word "Bootstrap", so just because we can recognize these things as developers/designers does not mean it has any influence whatsoever on your users. I'd much rath

Anyone know if the apps will work on the Google TV? If so this is a lot more compelling. I'm assuming a pure Google Reader would be the next logical hardware step, in which case Google is ramping up to become a bigger threat to Amazon, whic
