You need to consider the goal of the Constitution: to prevent tyranny. Everything in the Bill of Rights was put there to thwart a known tactic of tyrants. Today there are new tools that give the tyrants new tactics, and we need to make su

No, the DMCA bans circumventing a measure that prevents copying. Sony needs to prove that their locks on the PS3 prevent copying. I'm not sure they do.

One simple differentiator would be to require free preview sites to be hosted under the quplo domain. That also lets previews get up more quickly, because the user doesn't have to get the domain, configure DNS, etc. Probably not enough by

Sigh. This article is a little too mystical about the Cambrian Explosion for my taste. "[W]hen life, for no obvious reason, burst into a crazy display of weird new fantastic forms"—this sort of thing happens when evolution comes across a

Why 32% and not 30%? Is there an extra fee I'm not seeing? I have one paid app in the Market (9 sales so far!), and I'm pretty sure I got exactly 70% of the sales.

Even updating at the same time every day would be nice; then I could add the developer's console to the list of links I read every morning.

> Apple and Google may mark their apps up less than the average department store or grocery store I'm pretty sure grocery store markups are more like 5% to 10%.

My Android phone's weather widget gives me the current temp, the daily high and low, and a general icon (sun, snow, freezing rain). Here in Massachusetts, it's accurate enough to be useful. The spatial resolution on the weather data is pre

A week ago I got my first Android phone. One thing that my Nokia N86 did better was that I could hit the button on my headset and say, "What time is it?".

I'd be a little less concerned about this one, because it's riskier for the attacker: once you find it, you can probably get a court order to have Verizon tell you who's paying the 3G bill. Although I suppose that just means Step 0 is to ge

What's special about the printing press is that it makes copying cheap; the comparable Roman technology was slavery, which makes labor cheap. (In the short term.)

The weird thing is that there already is an external cable for PCIe. An 8-lane PCIe cable can beat Thunderbolt, at 16Gb/s instead of 10. (Although I'm not sure if that's bidirectional; if not, you'd have to go to a 16-lane cable.) http
