I would guess it depends on your exact smb configuration, as I recall there were multiple configuration parameters for transfer speed, like > socket options = TCP_NODELAY IPTOS_LOWDELAY SO_RCVBUF=131072 SO_SNDBUF=131072 I never benchmark

Minor nitpick - shouldn't you first define the service and only then a timer for it? Otherwise since you enabled timer and are still trying to figure out how to write service, systemd won't have anything to run when timer triggers

Anyone has an interesting project to build with Kinect? I have a 360 kinect laying around, since nobody does Just Dance parties anymore. Also, was the XBone version of kinect much better than 360?

Was that really so bad in terms of performance? Surely .htaccess didn't exist there most of the time and even if it did, that would have been cached by kernel so each lookup by apache process wouldn't be hitting disk directly to c

What kind of intense read/write nature you are talking about in a video game console? It just reads the game ROM from storage and executes it, there is nothing to write back, the game is not being modified in any way while playing. All

Calling Jessica an old chap is quite a giveaway that it's a bot xD Nice idea indeed, but I have a feeling that it's just two LLMs now conversing with each other.

Are those GPUs really stupid? They seem like a great price for performance devices when ultra high level gaming is not the priority. EDIT: I personally always liked intel iGPUs because they were always zero bullshit on Linux minus some scre

In my limited experience with rook-ceph it is strictly bare metal technology to deploy. On virtualization it will basically replicate your data to VM disks which usually are already replicated, so quite a bit of replication amplification wi

Why would those brick everything? You update node one by one and take it slow, so issues will become apparent after upgrade and you have time to solve those - whole point of having clusters comprised of many redundand nodes.

In my limited experience this is often from overloaded virtualization platform where this VM is located on. Can be vmware or proxmox, on proxmox its sometimes when VM is being live migrated to other virtualization host. Can also happen when

Why did I always had impression that decompressing data is much faster than reading inflated data off disk? Like, if you need to read just 5MB and decompress it would take less time than just to read 10MB off a disk, for example, but this a
