This is my biggest objection to Slack. Give me an application/container/whatever I can run on our network instead. I do not trust them with my entire company chat history stored in plaintext on the same cluster as every other comp

Anecdotally, I don't know a single person in my network who uses Telegram but I know numerous people who use Signal (including some very surprising non-tech folks). Is this a common trend or do I just have a really weird network?

Nashville makes the most sense to me. Centrally located for the midwest and Atlantic seaboard. Great central roadway hub. Airline flights can be increased easily with demand. Relatively low-cost of living, cheap land and cheap labor. Modera

Unless they've figured out a way to attach a DRM policy to the knowledge you learn from taking a course, I don't think it's possible for them to leave anyone high and dry.

I was looking at the DynamoDB costs just to get an idea and I think it'd actually be a lot worse for this scenario: - Up to 1M writes per minute, or ~16k/second. Obviously they don't operate at full capacity 24x7 but let'

Can you show me where in the post that is described because I do not see it. All I see is a description of how they moved the UploadToS3 aspect to a job queue, but it's still sending individual files to S3.

Fair point, I was mostly focused on the absurd cost for that specific implementation. What would you suggest as an alternative? A document-oriented database?

They're uploading each POST payload to S3 at a rate of up to 1M uploads a minute? They're going to go broke from S3 operational fees. PUT fees are $0.005 per 1k, or $5/minute, or $7200/day S3 is an absolutely terrible fi

Unless customers absolutely raise hell, this is going to be very good for AWS. Suddenly all of these autoscaling setups are going to consume 30% more resources in order to achieve the same throughput. My expectation is we may see AWS apply
