That's a very fair comment, but I do sort of agree with the person you're replying to. Others here have provided reasons why Tailwind is great, and many comments just center around how it's at least not a bad idea. But for

Once I properly used Tailwind for a mid-sized project, I was pretty much sold on it. Size was my main issue. With PurgeCSS the payload can be really small though. it only includes the Tailwind classes that you're actually using.

Agreed. Although I'd say that in practice I often find the need to use mostly a fixed set of Tailwind classes + some adjustments. It can help to use @apply, but I think even the documentation advises against reaching for it too quickly

I agree that styled-components takes care of a bunch of issues that make some of us reach for Tailwind. However, aside from requiring a very specific tech stack, it doesn't solve the problem of every component potentially having slight

I was here for all the discussions about how React went against the idea of mixing html and js, but once I started using it and grokking how that wasn't really the case, I found React to be so much more pleasant than what had come befo

I'd say that does illustrate why I chose to just get proficient in Vim though. There are enough of these kinds of scenarios where having it available is very useful. But if you don't know Vim, you wouldn't bother learning it

I'll name one use case where Vim's approach helps me out a lot: macros. Quite often I need to edit a whole bunch of lines of code/data in a similar way. simply being able to repeat a particular set of 'motions' x ti

I switched from Spacemacs the last time Doom Emacs was discussed here and I'm very happy with it. Took me a while to adjust, and sometimes I'll miss something Spacemacs did, or struggle with muscle-memory, but overall it's be

True, in this particular case it does seem inefficient. And of course there's nothing stopping one from just doing this with a bit of js. But in the bigger picture, the advantages of this approach are huge: 1. no need to maintain state

That's surprising to hear. Do you have any links that go into this (or show benchmarks)? I generally avoid PHP, but I've been thinking of looking into Laravel for when I do need to use PHP.

The click would be sent as an event to the server, where the state is changed (setting "active_tab" or something like that). Then the view would be re-rendered (probably only changing a few class names) and the diff sent back down

I'd say Eloquent Javascript (available for free online, I think) is a good book to read. "You Don't Know JS" is also a good one! Basically, go for anything that teaches you non-js-specific approaches as well as as a soli

I'd say this is perhaps an unknown unknown situation. I've had a wonderful time working with Preact and Express, but I wouldn't go back to it after becoming comfortable with the LiveView paradigm.

My experience with LiveView has been similar. I can highly recommend looking into Tailwind (and Tailwind UI). For me, it solved some of the pain of still having to deal with CSS and various preprocessors for it. I can now create entire work

I don't know any polyglot programmers who would consider javascript better than at least one of the other languages they use, and would ditch js for those if they had the option. TypesScript, maybe.
