I suspect the government will magically be much better at logistical efforts when there's a clear economic pay-off. Neoliberalism might not be great when it comes to helping the little man, but I suspect it can swiftly get its act toge

Agreed. I've stopped relying on CDN caching for my projects and instead try to focus on avoiding large js payloads entirely.

Agreed. No criticism about what this is so far, just excitement about the stuff that could be added. Great work!

I've found "|> case do" to feel 'right' at times when it's at the end of the pipeline.

Agreed. I maintain a whole bunch of codebases, many of which are a few years old, and it's so much easier to dust of an Elixir project (pre-formatter) than, say, picking up on a Wordpress or Drupal project.

I don't see how my accomplishments, or lack thereof, have any bearing on my moral beliefs and expressing them. That said, I was in a bad mood, and in hindsight I shouldn't have judged based on so little information; I don't k

Yeah, well, fuck the whole thing. So this guy fired a college buddy who chose to work for him instead of a better-paying job. "I believed in you". And the story just moves on, like it's a colour detail to the whole thing? Doe

I agree with the sibling comment that post-WW1 was a different place, but I'll add that from the reading I've done Hitler and his cronies were so much worse at their stuff than the 'tactical genius evil' the Nazis are

I dunno. I believe it's actually pretty easy to get away with lots of crime. It's just that the smart ones don't get caught. > Also, smart people tend to do something with their life, so they are less inclined to be attrac

I once, just for the fun of the exercise, tried to set up an unused netbook and be as safe as possible. It was incredibly difficult to not mess up, knowing what I know. In practice, I'd say it was usually convenience or rote behavior

Thanks. I went all-in on Doom Emacs. It's been a struggle to get used to the differences, but I already like how it all feels faster and cleaner!

I've been hearing that guns and ammo have become scarce(r) in some places (like California). Don't know if that's accurate, and I wouldn't know how to check, but that's what I've heard. Concerning.

There's a big contingent of right-leaning libertarians, and there are a decent number of conservatives and centrists present too. Even more than a few Trump fans! I'm often surprised by the variety, in a positive way.

Can anyone who has also used Spacemacs explain why I might want to switch? I've been considering doing a new setup with Spacemacs anyways, since my config is a huge mess right now (this was my first Emacs/Spacemacs/config exp

To be fair, it's much more difficult to have an effective lockdown a country that has people tightly packed together and that isn't a WEIRD individualistic society.

It's exactly how my friends are reacting here in The Netherlands. The haphazard rules just don't seem to make much sense, everyone is tired of it, and nobody we/they know has died from COVID. Just last Friday, our PM announce

That doesn't invalidate the observation (which I share) that these attempts are almost 0 when using a different port. It reduces logspam and if I start getting lots of brute force attempts on my non-standard port, this is useful and me
