Interesting. When I played God of War one of the things that really stood out to me too was how solid everything about the game felt. I can't recall many games where something like that was noticeably better than everything else. Reall

Why would Sony pull the game and offer refunds if this is an AAA release 'just like any other'? Plus, I played a number of AAA games unpatched recently and none of them were as bad as this game. This really is quite something else

Even with just one ending, a game can do branching well for all the sub-story endings that most games have. Hell, even The Witcher 3 did this incredibly well. Spoiler incoming for those who haven't played it yet. "The Bloody Bar

Personal incentive. I wanted to play the game as soon as it was out, and the download can take quite a while.

Yeah, I do hope CDPR pulls off something similar. For many reasons I doubt it (even though they managed to turn a buggy Witcher 3 into one of my favorite games ever), but I do hope so. I'd easily pay 30-40 bucks for this game if they f

It's so, so much more than that. Even if the game had no bugs, it's nothing like what it was presented to be. And no, not by the 'fanboys' but by CDPR themselves. I'd probably have bought the game on discount if I k

While I do have immense sympathy for the devs, it does bother me that none of them blew the whistle. Many, if not most, should've known that this game was nothing like what was promised, and practically unplayable on PS4 or XBONE. Ye

It's /exactly/ the type of thing I like to see on HN. It's sorta weird, very nerdy, and got me reading up on, of all things, manhole covers. We clearly have different ideas of what 'hackers' might be interested

I've gotten to accept 30 FPS on console, but honestly I avoid getting too used to more than that right now because the difference is definitely very noticeable. I did something similar back when most gaming moved to 1080p. I could acce

Great comment. I think a big part of the problem, that I feel Cyberpunk actually highlights really well, is the degree to which problems are ultimately defined by and related to the individual. And, unfortunately, constrained. Take the hipp

I find 'mandatory' to be a bit of a blurry concept, knowing what we know now about the malleability and susceptibility to various 'mind viruses' that we humans have. Sure, it's definitely important to acknowledge th

All the most well-known cyberpunk media, afaik, is extremely political. Sure, style plays a role, but even the stylistic trappings have strong political undercurrents. There's a reason 'punk' is part of the name. One could cr

Honestly, outside of all the bug reports that was a big red flag for me. In their past success (Witcher 3), storytelling was pretty much what lifted it from being a mostly mediocre game. If they went for Witcher 4 or whatnot, it's fine

Judging from the game they ended up cutting corners all over the place, to the point where it can be considered a faulty product or at the very least a case of false marketing. It's quite the mess!

The way I see it, some commenters here keep holding on to their 'html is content, css is styling' mantra because, well, all of us old-schoolers have held to that for a long time. Some of us realized it never really works in practi

That's just dismissing all of us who like Tailwind /and/ have a decade+ of experience doing all of this 'the right way' without bothering to properly argue. It's a very cheap comment. (but not out of line with

I've found them hit or miss, because they rely so much more on good storytelling (and sometimes visuals). I quite liked Firewatch though. Pretty art-style, great writing and setting.

The problem in this discussion is that most of us are happy with Tailwind based on our experience using it, and our experience with previous approaches. And not just because it's "easier to get started". And from what I c

I respect that perspective. I both love and often avoid Ruby precisely because of this. But even if I don't use Ruby much day to day, I really appreciate what it taught me (Rails, too) and the fun I had writing it.

I dunno. The vibe I get from it is very similar to React. The excitement, the arguments for and against, the focus on some kind of 'separation of concerns' purity that isn't ultimately that convincing. I waited a while before
