That seems like a rather limited view of location in the opposite. We feel emotion in all of us including our brains.

If there's anything we've learned from the last 20 years in security it's that the user is the least fit to decide. They are bad at passwords, they are bad at clicking things in email, they just are not security conscious. &q

I'm unsure why you're sure he's not an authority. This is HN, not some random group of people Seems like he has a decent background to know what he's talking about.

Reading about this, it really seems like a scam. Are people actually forking over these kinds of "tuitions"? I have a non-traditional background and learned on the job. There's no way I'd have paid anywhere near this.

Half a million a year in profits / wages is definitely a bit beyond lifestyle business. In wages it's possible top of field in something that really matters to a large enterprise. In profit, it's a whole lot of work in a very

Depends on what you think you're trying to protect against. Having foreign powers or foreign mafias in control of large parts of your infrastructure seems like a big threat.

The product of your work does more than 3x what you could do by yourself though, that's why it's valued more / differently. A similar argument would be made for effective organizers and the force multiplication of coordinated

I tend to think that doing physical work, understanding what's involved, is educational, informative, and motivating. A significant part of the world does work with their body. It's important in having empathy for other "clas

This seems fundamentally unresponsive to the parent. What is the true cost of water and infrastructure? Who decides? In any case it's not a desert which was your original statement so do you retract that?

I find this disturbing in a way I can't quite quantify. Kids should do things, not just appear to do things because they're clever about outsourcing to someone worse off.
