This! People really don't understand that we have plenty of authoritarianism already and it's that authoritarianism is what got us here. If Musk could have invented something to solve climate change, you think we would still be sp

We don't need to raise capital. We don't need taxes to pay for the renewable and adaptive work we need to do. Taxes are strictly punitive and saying we need to raise taxes to raise funds is not only wrong, but delays action.

What did Musk or Bezos build? What did they invent? Nothing. Everything built and invented was by their workers. The success of Amazon and SpaceX/Tesla is a form of collective action. The collective action of employees, and the collect

We always try to give utilitarian reason for animals doing what they do. I have a simpler explanation, the goose was playing. Having fun in the wind of the storm.

Anyone remember the Croquet Project? Built with Smalltalk. Pretty cool object model for 3d, multi-user worlds. Connected via portals, the 3d equivalent to links. Built-in IDE. P2P. Didn't realize it but still going 20 years later! htt

That's my point, the paper doesn't answer the counterfactual or even hint at what the answer would be. You implied higher taxes allow the government to spend more, but this is not true since the government doesn't need taxes

Actually this does NOT hint at an answer the counterfactual. Because spending is unchanged as a result of lower taxes from the government. Government spends as much as it did before cutting taxes (this is because the federal government does

But you do realize, most technological advancement is done by the government right? Government investment in tech surpasses VC funding by a lot.

Exactly. I've been coding C++ for 22 years and feel I know less now then I did back then. The language has grown. But at the same time I feel 10x more productive in it than 20 years ago.

These are great examples. I wrote about how this will propagate all sorts of bugs. But my argument was that it's good enough developers may get complacent and not review the auto complete closely enough. But maybe I'm wrong! Maybe

I'm confused, are you denying any work (valuable or not) doesn't produce waste? Or does capitalism magically work outside of physics? Even without CO2, at the 2% annual growth target rate, the amount of energy humans would output
