I guess I'm still missing it. I think measuring economic deals in dollars is pretty sensible. I'm not implying the terms of the deal have changed, however the value of the deal has changed MATERIALLY since it was announced to approved.

The title feels a bit sensationalist. Yes, some open sourced iOS live filters are totally cool, but this really has nothing to do with Instagram. Instagram is more than some photo filters.

There is no "old school mode" left. There are third party utilities to bring back things like the classic start menu, to disable booting into Metro, etc., but it cannot simply be disabled.
