Thought for a second that this was a 4.0 release announcement but this is just about the rewrite in rust. Any fish users wanting release notes of what to look forward to can look here: https://fishshell.com/docs/4.0b1&#

This also surprises me. The weather app on my iphone has been atrocious with local same-day forecasts lately. It will say that the forecast for noon is sunny when it is 11:50 and dumping rain. It sometimes gets the overall idea that warmer

Does Regatta require a local disk sized for the entire file to support random writes? One problem I’ve seen is that we have set up instances with a modest local disk but then work with files for which we need to pull the whole file into a l

Haha! I did the same thing. If I recall its button mapping is wonky (and maybe missing one?). It does mostly work as a regular controller so it’s possible to play games that aren’t specifically designed for it albeit in a limited fashion.

Relatedly, I once saw someone realize that the sound they played at the end of their build was running synchronously so they were blocking themselves from a faster feedback loop and reporting unusually long builds in their profiling. Proper

I wonder whether pouring them together in addition to the first or second cases would be useful for helping to ascertain how keen the sense was.

I don’t remember if Mac had HTML but I used to set one of the quartz screensavers as my desktop back in the day. I can’t find links to how to do it right now so can’t test if it still works. It could only be set using a command line so it w

Python 3.12.1 on an M2 macbook air. For extra fun I also tested doing `sorted(heights)[0]` which is slightly faster than the benchmark2 variants, but slower than the benchmark1 variants.

For science I added versions of the benchmarks as for loops: it's faster than the while loop versions above, but min(heights) is still way faster: def benchmark1for(heights): smallest = heights[0] for h in heights

Niches inside of niches. I’m one of the few who enjoys a split ergo with > 60 keys and low-pro caps that doesn’t want to build it myself. The sofle choc looks promising as does the pinky4[1] if it can be made with all chocs. [1]: https:

That’s over 40 minutes of a full day or 5 hours a week spent locking! As the author states it’s highly context dependent but in some cases this is a lot of time to do other work if it can be reduced.

I know at least Preview on MacOS has this feature now: if you try to put a black bar over text it tells you this isn’t secure and offers to redact for you using a method that both visually replaces all characters and removes the embedded te

The article seemed to have a nice level of detail without being too light or heavy: nice job! At the end you discussed how you moved from C to Rust to Go for this: I’m assuming the interface with ffmpeg is inconsequential to the language ch

That’s fine unless you are a language or library creator in which case knowing how to do it properly can’t be deferred to someone else. Perhaps porting someone else’s correct implementation is good but someone somewhere has to implement thi

I’ve mostly seen chips treated as a unit-less or self referential unit: white is 1, red is 5, etc. 1 or 5 <whats> is irrelevant if you’re playing tournament style play. At the end the top x% of players get a scaling percentage of the

I guess that's an open question that the community will decide. I can't speak for anyone in particular, but if you watch live streams of fractal, bluescuti, etc. their primary drive seems to be to have more game to play, not less.
