Maybe looking at the average is the wrong thing to do. People who die from cancer can be robbed of a lot of years. A couple of other recent cancer deaths I saw on HN: Walter Ehmer died at 58 https://news.ycombinator.com/ite

“ Cancer diagnostics today are broken. You have to get to a point where you're sick enough or find a visible lump somewhere to go for a checkup” We are developing liquid biopsies that seem promising for early cancer detection. https:&

Add a wireless keyboard, mouse and monitor then you’ve got a desktop computer. Not gonna happen from Apple but I’m eagerly awaiting the day.

Intel hasn’t received any US money yet. TSMC will also receive several billion in subsidies. The problem the government is trying to address is 90% of the world’s most sophisticated chips being made in Taiwan, a potential war zone. I

I wouldn't worry. A few hundred billion dollars isn't going to solve immortality. We've also got to cure heart disease, cancer(s), Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, etc along the way. If we could simply add an extra 30-50

I’m not rich and I want to live forever. Let’s skip the two most common comments. “Death gives life meaning” Not to worry, death is still optional “Only the rich will be able to afford it”. No, you are incorrect. Give it some additional tho

How many have died because we didn’t care enough to try harder to cure these terrible diseases. Tens of millions! If you have a disease and want to find clinical trials for unapproved drugs, they are available. https://clinicaltr

Each study tells if they are recruiting. Then you can drill down and see locations where they are recruiting. For example, https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT05855200?locStr=New%20Yo...

It is disturbing. For some reason it’s not disturbing enough that we spend more to try and cure these diseases. The Last Lecture was given almost 20 years ago. Pancreatic cancer is just as deadly today. https://youtu.be/ji5_
