5 years sounds good enough. Ubuntu does that too with LTS unless you go extended 10 years support. People freaking out because their free candy is no longer as tasty as one could hope, it looks quite funny they have zero willingness to pay

What is such a big difference as not to keep using it? You seem to believe a community supported distro was as good as a corporate supported distro and put such a high faith in it but now somehow it's all corrupt when RH supports it pu

Questions is, if it's that interesting how is it only a single person project for that long? Any sponsors?

Maybe link to a source for this info and people will recognize.

Have you used it? I can easily see what domains are blocked in the web ui and see that Adobe products are trying to phone home so often and which clients are trying to resolve what domains.

Disk and snapshot costs aren't bad either which leaves me to use AWS as only a backup solution as it imposes no outbound traffic.

Hetzner is a too good to be true service. Only that they have less locations but I'd imagine they need a very well controlled data center and staff to reach that kind of cost and can't expand easily.

It is unbelievable that it gives big red scores for not using WebP but apparently it's not an honest judgement but an attempt to push the format by abusing its search market share.

It's easy to tell people to quit by either giving an option of 0 or 1 but that's quite disrespectful.

Practically how is that damaging your use case by using CentOS stream? Do you see many things being unstable? It doesn't refer CentOS as a beta release of RH. https://www.centos.org/distro-faq/#q5-does-this-mean-th

Do you have references for "many bugs, often broken" or are you exaggerating? You complain about fixes being slow but I don't see they were instant before as a community supported distro.

Serious question but why aren't people comfortable with CentOS? It wasn't a live or die change but people seemed to have freaked out somehow.

Just got one delivered. I was planning to use Raspberry Pi (which is badly low on stock these days) as my home router with various docker images running but when I figured not all docker images support Arm architecture, I went to look for x

The time when semicolons become optional in PHP, it'll probably be my primary language over Typescript. I just don't get why people tend to type the semicolons in JS/TS when they don't need to like they don't know i

PHP is getting good, sometimes I feel better than Typescript even. You can't do named parameters in Typescript unless you put every parameter as a dictionary and destructure it at the method. I just want array of class type hinting or

It's quite a question as how a team of very talented developers can keep on going with such little donation. $87.5k in 2022? That doesn't even pay for a single person after taking the rest of the expenses into account. Do they all

Ubuntu 22.04. I'm guessing the few dozens of plugins are probably messed up in a way or another after each updates. Apparently, there's no unified QA testing among community supported ecosystem with 20 different authors.

Compared to JetBrains, no thanks. I can't even get Neovim to run stably without throwing random errors every now and then, especially after I update plugins.

Right. vim (and the likes) are only good for server side config editing but these days remote plugin of vs code can also take that role away.

You sound like a sales pitch but my NeoVIM based off of AstroNvim breaks in very random ways across a dozen of servers even under same configuration, I'm about to try Helix instead of the ecosystem with pile of random quality plugins.
