The one thing that puzzles me above anything else about this whole thing is: "Linode uses ColdFusion". I mean, you have this Linux company that's pretty much an open source champion to us Linux guys and then... Adobe ColdFusion. Really? I k

I agree with questioning their choice of ColdFusion, but I have some reserves about your proposed alternative to use Django. I don't know how secure Django is, but I know it's big. And my perception is generally that anything that big is bo

You seem to be making some assumptions based solely on the fact that the author didn't like the sales people he was working with. He never elaborated on the reasons. But I can foresee many. For instance, it is possible that the culture in t

I can agree with him on that specific point, but beyond that there's the issue of people he calls pseudo-scientists (who are actual scientists that do actual academic research on the topic), that are linking degenerative diseases and grain

The diet represents a significant change in my eating habits. I would have to look really hard to find a different cause. I significantly reduced bread, rice, potatoes, pasta, legumes in the last 2 weeks. That's extremely unusual for me. In

Interesting approach. I first learned Flask, built a small project with it, then later took the time to get familiar with wsgi. I don't feel that I missed out. My first project didn't use any middleware, but was easy to understand and maint

I've used kde and Gnome on ubuntu since 7.04. When Miguel de Icaza wrote his piece on the death of desktop Linux a few months ago, discussions on Unity as the "doom" of Ubuntu crept back up and I got curious about it enough to give it a try

I'm not complaining on the use of the ampersand, but unlike many people seem to believe, it's not semantically equivalent to "and". Beyond just joining two items in a phrase, the ampersand marks an association between them and emphasizes it

Thanks for this post, there were some nice tips in there. Although, I do have some nitpicking about your writing style. Maybe it's just me, but I found that your use of "+ve" instead of just saying "positive" and of "&" instead of "and"

I agree, maybe OP should have just posted this thread instead. After reading this I'm wondering if Miguel de Icaza is not in fact equating Gnome to Linux Desktop . One may be dying, doesn't have to mean that the other will follow suit.
