As a professional of the tech field for the better of the last 7 years, I've had the opportunity to work with countless of these marketing, pr, bd people and to be frank, that "Greatness", I've only heard of, never actually witnessed it. I

During my research prior to starting development, I read two very interesting articles from the msdn library [1] [2]. My take from them was that there's a spectrum of possible architectures for multi-tenancy and within that spectrum, there

Unfortunately information is a bit scattered across the web about it. The main lines though are this: - at the start of your request, grab a connection to the database and make sure that it's only accessible to that specific request (i.e. e

On my way to build a multi-tenant application I went through a great deal of articles recommending various architecture strategies. I was looking for an approach to organize the data for the app's various customers (multi-tenant). Most reco

I think 37signals has enough relevant hits on HN to their credit that entitle them to a couple of misses. However, When all is said and done, what’s our likely financial outcome from Hacker News visitors for those 25 posts? About $300 to

In order to learn from a "mistake" there needs to be some sort of feedback. Many programmers make the same mistake over and over because it hasn't yet come back to seriously bite them in the ass, or because the evidence of it isn't clear. O

This might be obvious to some, but I've literally only realized a few months ago that when I write text, I will consult a thesaurus, whereas for some reason I've neglected to do the same when I code. I would spend hours agonizing on how to

Like the author said, you’ll spend a lot more time reading code than writing it, and [python] focuses on guiding developers to write readable code . As someone who reads a reasonable amount of source, I'm grateful for that.

Docstrings should already be easy to detect by editors, so it would be trivial to add a show/hide functionality. Incidentally, one could also use Sphinx to create a plugin for that.

It's a mistake to try to anticipate use cases you don't actually have or else you'll end up overengineering your solution. I wish more people would think like this before sabotaging their perfectly good APIs with noise. I'm a huge fan of

I suppose it could be an indicator of your motivation. If you're making 80k and are looking to be paid at least 70k, it might show that at your level, you could potentially get 90k if you wanted, but have other considerations than money.
