Why has cheap KVM-consoles for phones never taken off? It seems like a great way to get a portable/inexpensive laptop experience. Judging by the relative success of Chromebooks, it would appear to be a ripe segment. And the performance

Suppose you have ten microservices. Running them in containers would surely be more energy efficient than in full blown VMs or dedicated machines?

I have to agree. The author has some great points about the challenges of pixel art in general, but some parts reads like "normies just can't understand the art form of our game". That would carry more weight if it was really

What was the process of debugging these programs? Did you get any sort of error code or card number that gave you clues as to what had gone wrong?

The pop-sci headlines hinting that quantum supremacy shenanigans means that we are close to some new paradigm of general purpose quantum computers. I suppose.

But should political messaging always be allowed in all forums though? Is it not inappropriate in some cases? Would you be as supportive if the message had been "protect the second amendment, support the NRA" or something?

China is clearly up to no good, but I can't shake the feeling that there would be something off about allowing political soapboxing in apolitical events like this. Should people have a set list of political ideas to propagate at the en

Yeah, I guess achieving arbitrarily huge images is just a matter of increasing the resolution/number of sensors and then applying the correct optics. The bottleneck (and technical achievement) of a system like this would be the process

It's not about superstition or fear, it's about resource allocation and common sense. Medical services are finite. Screening and continuous monitoring of every potential tumor in everyone would be crazy time consuming and incredib

Tip: For anyone trying out Flutter, please remember to evaluate it based on release builds of your app. Scrolling and animations can feel a bit "off" when running the default debug builds. The 60 FPS butter is only really applied

It is amazing indeed! At some point our memes, language and culture became more powerful than any natural mutations. Perhaps this was helped by these irrational/rogue features of our consciousness.

I largely agree, but it feels a bit like side-stepping the real question. We can make decisions that are completely orthogonal (and a lot of times opposite) to whatever would increase our "fitness". This agency is what's pecu

I think you might be overloading the word "success". A successful project doesn't necessarily imply anything beyond delivery of what was agreed upon.

The whole point of all of these stories is funny/sad misallocations of resources. The "real problems" thing is a completely unrelated discussion. Not sure why you'd want to weave that in.

This is so true. jQuery is really a fantastic library, but it gets dragged in the mud because of the applications of it. What people forget is that the adoption of SPA's preceded the widespread use of modern SPA-centric frameworks that

I might be wrong, but I think Flutter was conceived during a time when Google was pushing hard for Dart. They even pushed for including native Dart support in browsers. Google probably still considers Dart highly relevant, especially since

I think "shadow-DOM-stuff" refers to the concept of virtual DOMs. The shadow DOM isn't really a virtual DOM though, sure. It's just encapsulated parts of the regular old DOM.

What blows my mind is that you cannot connect to a Chromecast from the desktop client. Apparently there is no official desktop SDK for Google Cast (outside of Chrome). So perhaps that is what really blows my mind. Errhm.

I use the File Commander Android app. It has a great feature where it starts up a web server hosting a file explorer like interface of your phone, where you can download, upload, delete, move and such. Works surprisingly well.
