What's the generate_204 thing? Low effort web searching revealed something about a default path on google services for clients to check network status. Is it more nefarious than that? Also, please tell me the ":wq" was unint

It seems like you are arguing against yourself now. If the phenomenon you describe is real, and you think it's also present in audiophile circles, then you agree with the post you replied to in the first place. Your earlier allusion to

How does it matter? If it gets rediscovered and is found interesting today, why is that bad? It's clearly dated, and if it was uninteresting it would simply die.

Haven't heard of any large scale phishing operations on CEF/Electron/whatever apps. Then again I'm not keeping up with infosec news. Are they a big problem?

It has the potential, but it is still so hampered by the physical constraints. You look like an idiot, you're not very comfortable, performance is meh, battery life is horrible and you need ample space to play in. Even if all of this w

I'm not a big fan of Apple, but this makes me genuinely happy. Seeing discussions and benchmarks of CPUs where Intel isn't even a contender is fantastic. What a lovely day!

The "level of security" (~tech effort) is the main competitive selling point when DRM-vendors lobby studios for endorsement. The studios are probably partly being sold a pipe dream of "unbreakable DRM", but the person yo

My hot, highly uneducated scoop on nuclear: we're too late to put a lot of effort into fission from an environmental perspective. If we had continued on investing and deploying as per pre-chernobyl, we might have significantly reduced

I think much of the hate is because the thread title wasn't prefixed with a "Show HN" to indicate a pet project. Instead it's read as a possible contender in the editor space. Combine that with the somewhat naive, selly

I did not know that. So when ordering stuff in the US, the tax is added at the checkout stage? Is it because of state tax laws being different or something?

It's not a straight conversion, parent poster refers to GB/EU pricing of the product. A straight conversion would be ~54£. I did a double take as well, and had to look it up.

Bryce! Holy shit what a nostalgia bomb. Creating guns and starships using only boolean primitives. It was so weird, and in the end, only landscapes came out beautiful. I wonder what happened to that.
